About Kappa Sigma: Gamma Nu

Who will you become?

Kappa Sigma is the largest fraternity in the world with over 20,000 current undergraduate members and over 200,000 alumni. With 320 chapters across the United States and Canada, the men of Kappa Sigma continue to grow the order and initiate the most men. The Gamma-Nu Chapter at Washburn University is also the largest chapter on campus.

Gamma-Nu continues to set the standard on Washburn’s campus. Over the 2016-2017 academic year, these brothers were above the All Mens’ Average GPA for their 6th consecutive year, and garnered the Greek Life award for Recruitment and Retention. During the 2017-2018 academic year, Gamma Nu won Homecoming for the 8th straight year, and Greek Week, bringing their total to 8 in the last 9 years. Gamma-Nu never stops striving for more. We continue to strive for improvement and bettering ourselves, and our accomplishments.

Kappa Sigma refuses to settle or slow down. An example would be that in the Fall of 2017, Gamma-Nu recruited and pledged 31 men, a fraternal record for Washburn University.

The Sigma Pledge Class is looking forward to raising the bar yet again. Our Goal as a chapter is not to get you through the next 4 years, it is to create a lifetime bond and a home away from home.

Our Brothers strive to be the best, and they expect the best from each other. The only question left to answer is, Who Will You Become?

How does the Rush process work?

If you have shown interest in joining Kappa Sigma and we are interested in you, you will be offered a bid. If you choose to accept your bid, you will begin the pledge process to join our brotherhood.

What is a pledge?

A pledge is an associate member of the fraternity. Pledges go through the pledge process to fulfill their requirements of becoming a brother.

How long is Kappa Sigma’s pledge period?

Kappa Sigma has a 60-day pledge period. You may pledge in the beginning of the fall or spring semesters.

Will I be hazed at any point?

No, and we promise you won't be. Kappa Sigma has an absolute no hazing policy nation wide, and Gamma Nu strictly enforces and follows this policy. Washburn University also has a no hazing policy as well.

Why become a Kappa Sigma man?

Kappa Sigma is for any man who wants a fun and meaningful college experience, while bettering themselves as an individual. Any member will tell you, membership in Kappa Sigma is a powerful and rewarding experience – offering social, academic, leadership, and service advancement that you can’t get anywhere else.

What is the cost of becoming a Kappa Sigma?

Every fraternity on campus has a different membership fee, and the brothers of Kappa Sigma are happy to be apart of the fraternity with the lowest dues of any fraternity at Washburn. If you are interested in a more specific number please do not hesitate to ask a current active member.
